House of Rock will celebrate 17 years of being a staple for live music in downtown Corpus Christi Thursday, July 28, through Saturday, July 30.

The venue opened its doors in 2005 as a rock bar and quickly became home to local musicians and artists. Over the years, House of Rock hosted concerts, art shows, fundraisers, weddings, corporate events, 5K runs and more.

In 2014, the business opened its kitchen, offering pizza, salads, sandwiches and other dining options.

In a release, owner Casey Lain said he is "beyond excited" to be celebrating his business' 17th year.

“We have a high energy live music lineup and are looking forward to a great weekend," Lain said.

Festivities will kick off with "SlamFest," a lineup of heavy metal produced by team member Scotty Moore, Thursday, July 28. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The official anniversary party is set for Friday, July 29, featuring a happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. with free live music from Damon Scott and half-price appetizers and pints. There will be a $10 suggested donation at the door.

At 7 p.m., more music will hit the stage including local bands Left Handed Knives, New Ends, UpDog and Lynwood King and the Revival. House of Rock will also be offering $2.40 Lone Star tall boys and buy-one-get-one-free pizza slices.

Closing the celebration Saturday, July 30, a free show with The Chainlinks and half-price pitchers will start at 9 p.m.
