In a revealing new Instagram post, fitness influencer Emily Skye (and new mom) provides an explanation as to why her super-fit stomach appears so toned in some photos and videos, and a little bit looser in others.
It all has to do with lighting, camera angles, and posing.

“Saggy, wrinkly belly skin - sometimes you can see it and other times you can’t,” she writes in her brutally honest post. The influencer, who has amassed 2.4 million Instagram followers, explains that many people have been asking where her previously evident saggy skin had gone, and some accused her of photoshopping it out. “I just wanted to show that how I stand, whether I’m flexing & what light I’m in either highlights my excess belly skin or hides it! - And I don’t mind either way which is why I post both,” she continues.
She continues to reveal that instead of being embarrassed about her body, she embraces it. “Is it weird that I’m actually proud of it? I’m proud of what it represents I guess. I grew a human in this belly & the whole process into motherhood has made me SO much stronger and also so much more confident in myself and my body. I couldn’t care less whether the stretched skin stays or goes! It’s such an insignificant thing in my eyes,” she says.
Skye encourages other women to stop being so hard on themselves. She concludes, “nobody is perfect and having some extra skin, stretch marks, cellulite or whatever else doesn’t make you any less beautiful or amazing!”

Skye has been diligently documenting her "unfiltered postpartum journey" up on the social media site, making sure to flaunt stretch marks and all. “It’s to humanize me — because people look at social media influencers and think ‘she’s perfect’ so it shows other women I have stretchmarks on my bum and loose skin on my tummy too,” she recently explained to news.com.au about why she opts to show off her "flaws."
We commend Skye for doing so, as it definitely makes her more relatable and helps other women accept and celebrate their own bodies — stretch marks, loose skin, cellulite and all!
