Bay County Little League Championship 2022 continues

BAY CITY, MI – Buckle up for a Northwest vs. Southwest showdown.

The neighboring baseball programs cross paths once again when Northwest’s Anderson Pharmacy meets Southwest’s Sheet Metal Workers in the title game of the 59th annual Bay County Little League Championship.

Game time is set for noon at Southwest’s Kolb Field, with the winner claiming top honors in the tradition-rich tournament that brings together the top two teams from each of Bay County’s four Little League baseball programs.

Sheet Metal Workers is seeking its second straight Bay County crown, but Anderson Pharmacy came out a 3-2 winner when the two squads met in the opening game of this year’s tournament.

Anderson Pharmacy meant business and wasted little time getting down to work.

The Bay City Northwest squad bashed five hits and scored three runs in the opening inning en route to a 10-1 victory over Fraternal Order of Police of Bay County Eastside in the semifinal clash.

Kyle Howard delivered four hits to spark the offense while Caleb Cox had two hits with a home run for the victors. Maddix Rahn and Kai Pakkiri each knocked two hits for Anderson while Collin Greer, Brady Howard, Charlotte Waibel and Ayden Schomaker each tallied one hit.

Landon Cooley complement the hot-hitting lineup with a two-hit pitching gem for Anderson.

FOP got hits from Avery Kukla and Brenner Gansser while Jeriko Navas walked and scored the team’s lone run in the second inning.

SHEET METAL WORKERS 5, GEPHART FUNERAL HOME 0

Sheet Metal Workers gave itself a chance to repeat as Bay County champion, outdueling Gephart Funeral Home 5-0 in an all-Southwest semifinal.

Joe Rivet came through with a clutch pitching performance in the win, coming within one batter of throwing a complete-game shutout.

Kobe Andrus provided the offensive punch, launching a three-run home run in the second inning for Sheet Metal Workers. Andrus and Mason Zatkovic each had two hits in the win while Jayden Perkins, Chase Hockman, Evan Richard and Jace Melick each contributed one hit.

Gephart got two hits from Cole Goik and one apiece from Aaron Kain, Hunter David and Lucas Short.
